Online video company Blip will relaunch its popular video player later this year, hoping that a more social viewing experience and a host of new shows will ease the company's entrance into video production.
Blip staked out a place in the burgeoning industry of online video in 2005, but on Thursday, the company decided to join the crowded group of content producers, launching Blip Studios.
NBC to Be Alive With a Live 'Sound of Music'
NBC Entertainment plans to bring its hills alive with "The Sound of Music" -- live.
Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the producing team behind "Smash" and the film versions of "Chicago" and "Hairspray," will manage the show, which has already begun casting, the network announed Friday.

'Magic Mike' Review: Male Stripper Saga Never Quite Takes (It) Off
Steven Soderbergh's "Magic Mike" brings to mind the old joke about non-dairy creamer — we know what it isn't, but what is it? If you're expecting a sexy and voyeuristic peek into the world of muscular dancers taking off their clothes for roomfuls of rowdy women (i.e., the movie that the ads and trailers are selling), you'll be disappointed at how lackluster and, ultimately, repetitive the stripping sequences are.
Kate Middleton Hats Fetch Big Bucks at Auction
Two hats worn by Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton before her marriage to Britain's Prince William were recently sold at auction for fairly big bucks.
One, which she wore to a wedding in October 2010, went for the equivalent of $5,080 and the other for $5,030. Not a small amount for an accessory.
Interestingly, both of the hats were rented ... who rents hats? Apparently if you're the UK's most fashionable young woman, it's par for the course.
Given that Prince Charles reportedly picks up the tab for all work-related Kate Middleton wardrobe costs, she can afford to rent the best of the best, too.
The two hats were part of the 'Passion for Fashion' auction held by Kerry Taylor, the same auction house which sold a dress of hers for £78,000 last year.
Now that she's married to William, auction houses are unable to put any items of the Duchess' clothes up for sale unless she sanctions a charity auction.

Kourtney Kardashian on Water Birth: EWWWWW!
Kourtney Kardashian will welcome a daughter into the world any day now, but this just in: the reality star will NOT be participating in a natural water birth.
TMZ sources that Kardashian was considering this option because it's reportedly a more peaceful process for the child… but Kourtney then witnessed the event in action a couple days ago and reacted to it in disgust.
Kourtney allegedly told pals the entire thing was "horrific" and, without drugs administered to mother, "looked brutally painful," although we have to ask: Doesn't that description apply to dating Scott Disick as well?
In the end, Kardashian will simply go the route of Beyonce and Jessica Simpson and rent out a suite at a hospital, Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles to be exact. No word yet on how much she'll charge for the right to the first photos, but rest assured: it will be a lot.

Ann Curry Confirms Today Show Departure
Ann Curry is ready to say goodbye.
With the rumors of this Today Show co-host's departure growing stronger by the second, Curry came out yesterday and acknowledged them herself, admitting her run is over and making it sound as if the announcement will be made this morning. And it won't be easy.
It's "going to be a bit of a tough day," Curry told USA Today in a phone interview. "I'm going to have to tell our viewers. That's what makes me more emotional than anything. I don't want to leave them. I love them. And I will really miss them."
Curry added that she isn't sure who first leaked the story of her firing and she feels like she could have benefited from more time to work out the "kinks" in the broadcast after just a year behind the desk.
"I know I am not to blame for the ratings worries. And my bosses have said to me there are many factors involved. There is no doubt that the rating wars have become meaner and less focused on our responsibilities as journalists... And the show is still number-one in terms of ratings."
Curry is expected to be named Today Show anchor-at-large and NBC News national/international correspondent. Savannah Guthrie will likely take her anchoring post.

Paula Deen Weight Loss: 30 Pounds and Counting!
Paula Deen knew it was time to shamelessly cash in on for a change.
Six months after announcing she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, the Food Network star revealed how she devised a slim-down strategy.
One that has helped her shed 30 pounds already, according to People.
"I do think differently [about food] now," Deen says. "I'm more aware."
So instead of regular meals with favorite "trigger" foods, the Southern chef has developed a newfound love for Greek salads and baked fish.
Her focus has paid off so far, with a slimmer frame and fatter bank account, thanks to the diabetes meds she's shilling for. Living the dream!
"It took me a couple of years to get to this point," says Deen, who faced harsh criticism when she finally announced her diagnosis in January.
"If you make a few small changes, they can add up to big results."
Results may include longer life span and/or total loss of scruples.

'Magic Mike' Pre-Sales Are Taking Off on Fandango
"Magic Mike," the Channing Tatum movie about guys taking it off, is doing some taking off of its own.
Warner Bros.' male stripper movie is the top-selling film at online ticketing site Fandango, social media mentions are surging and box office analysts are revising their tracking upwards.
Pre-sales for "Magic Mike" represented 36 percent of all movie ticket sales at Fandango on Tuesday, outstripping, ahem, those of reigning box-office champ "Brave," which was at 31 percent.

Casey Abrams Speaks on New Album, Important Cause
During his season 10 run on American Idol, Casey Abrams was anything but predictable. Viewers really had no idea what they were in for each week, as this aspiring singer advanced farther and farther in the competition.
With Casey's first album as a signed artist out today, THG asked what fans can look forward to and he was pretty straightforward: More of the same!
"Expect fun," he said. "There are some singer/songwriter vibes, some upright guitar. A little bit of everything."
Abrams has remained an Idol viewer since leaving the show ("I feel like I have to be," he says. "It's like a high school reunion each year. I keep going back."), but he's also taken on a new cause: IBD spokesperson.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease affects 1.4 million people, including Casey, who was hospitalized during his time on Idol but hesitant to discuss why.
But he's since joined up with IBDIcons and released a music video that fan club members can view.
"It's more of a common disease than I realized," Abrams said. "It's smart to create awareness about it, so I figured I'd make a music video. Kids watch music videos, right?"
That they do. They also continue to make American Idol the most-watched show on television. Does Casey have advice for any of the top 10 about to go on tour this summer?
"Don't get a big head. That's the main thing. There's a lot of talent out there, so as long as they keep their head on straight, they should be fine."
Meanwhile, if you wanna see Casey playing at a venue near you over the next few weeks, you might have the chance. He'll be heading out on the road in promotion of his album.
"I'm just packing up my little Grand Marquis, maybe my ukulele, and we'll see where the wind takes me," he says.

New Video:Miley Cyrus performed funny skits on 'SNL' Last Night. Last night,mega popstar/actress Miley Cyrus hosted NBC's "Saturday Night Live" show in New York City,New York,and performed a couple of very funny skits including the Miley Cyrus Show,which usually mocks her (video below). In the clips, Miley sang a song called, "Sorry, I'm Not Perfect." She also spoofed new teen popstar sensation Justin Bieber in her "The Miley Cyrus Show" skit. Then performed parodies about troubled "Mean Girls," actress Lindsay Lohan and Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie from the popular band "Black Eyed Peas."
