Our Top 5 New York Fashion Week Fall 2012 Shows

With NYFW coming to a close, the hardest task of all has been narrowing down the plethora of runway shows to a succinct all-time-favourite, bring-a-smile-to-your-dial, top five edit. But here goes... An early starter in the week was Altuzarra, who blew us away with his lush gypsy embellishment, his unusual use of knits and ethnic-but-modern prints. 3.1 Phillip Lim was another standout, sending a swag of elegant colour-spliced suiting down the runway that was far too cool for the everyday nine-to-five routine. Rag & Bone wrapped us up in their expertly layered blanket silhouettes, making us genuinely yearn for a chill in the air, whilst Jason Wu's fresh take on the Oriental and military trends are sure to affect the way we dress next season. Last but not least, the Proenza Schouler boys gave us a luxe/modern mash up of sporty silhouettes and opulent fabrications. Oriental inspired silk-screen prints and sumptuous brocades were tied off with hip-slung obi belts and don't-mess-with-me footwear. Catch up on all the catwalk action here, or if you want the cheat sheet - scope our top five!
