Shirley MacLaine will be the 40th performer to receive the American Film Institute's highest honor when she collects the group's Life Achievement Award at a gala celebration in Los Angeles June 7.
MacLaine, 77, is a six-time Oscar nominee who won an award in 1984 for "Terms of Endearment."
