Whilst the maxi is still having a moment, we've noticed hemlines creeping up (just a smidgen!) at the recent round of New York Fashion Week shows. Calf length is where it's at, seen specifically in skirts that have this modest - but oh-so alluring edge. Silhouettes varied from full, box pleated shapes, to pencil slim with front splits (another trend we've been tracking), to A-line numbers that sit high on the waist - but the ankle-exposing length stayed a constant from Vena Cava to Vera Wang, Cynthia Rowley to Marc by Marc Jacobs. Teamed with everything from brogues, to strappy stilettos, to ankle booties, it looks like the new midi length is settling in for the Winter. A/W 2011, that is.
