DirecTV and Fox have ended their carriage battle.
The pair jointly announced Monday that they've reached a new carriage agreement. DirecTV had earlier threatened to drop Fox Networks channgels including FX, National Geographic and regional sports networks when negotiations broke down.

Doris Day has been named recipient of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's 2011 Career Achievement Award, the critics group announced on Saturday.
"Decades on from the main body of her work, Doris Day is still arguably the template to which Hollywood turns when trying to quantify and capture ‘girl-next-door’ appeal,” said LAFCA president Brent Simon in a release announcing the honor.

A Buffalo, N.Y. law firm specializing in facilitating foreclosure proceedings for large banks received some of the worst PR imaginable over the weekend, when the New York Times ran office Halloween-party photos featuring the firm's staff seeming to mock the homeless and displaced.

"Puss in Boots" is in position to break the record for best Halloween weekend opening ever -- but with a smaller take than many box-office watchers had predicted.
The DreamWorks Animation film grossed about $9.56 million on Friday, according to rival-studio estimates. That puts the 3D movie on track to take in just more than $35 million for the weekend.

Add Ricki Lake to the list of celebrities who have participated in what has become America’s unofficial celebrity weight loss show: Dancing With the Stars.
She may not have lost the 100 pounds boasted by one recent finalist (check out these Kirstie Alley weight loss pics), but Lake has certainly slimmed down.

Ricki Lake has lost 20 pounds of weight on DWTS.
Lake is clearly enjoying her thinner frame, and looking healthy and wonderful while doing it. Ricki’s also maintaining a healthy attitude towards the process.
“I don’t know. I didn’t weigh myself at the beginning. I’m definitely a size six now. I’ll probably be a size four by the end of it," she told the Huffington Post.
"It’s come to the point where it doesn’t matter to me. I no longer wear Spanx. I don’t have lumps where I used to. I will weigh myself at the end."
"I really like where my body is going. My waist has never been smaller.”
Lake also claimed to not be a “natural dancer,” but she's just being modest. Aside from JR Martinez, it doesn't appear anyone can stop her this season.
Disney is saying "da" to Russia.
The company is partnering with UTA Russia to launch a Disney Channel in that country, it announced Thursay.

Two labor groups say that satellite radio company SiriusXM is proposing a "blantantly anti-artist and anti-union" deal that would make it difficult for artists to recoup their royalties.
The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the American Federation of Musicians are asking their members to tell their labels they don't like the idea.

The House Judiciary Committee unveiled new legislation Wednesday designed to crack down on online piracy.
The proposed legislation would grant the federal government broad powers to cripple websites that host illegal content.

Who thought those three names would be grouped together in a musical performance? MTV, for one.
At MTV’s O Music Awards 2, to be streamed from Los Angeles on Halloween, the Flaming Lips will play a special musical tribute to the late Apple co-founder. According to MTV, they taped a performance of the Beatles’ “Revolution” entirely via iPads over the weekend.

Then the teams had to fly to Tokyo,Japan,and make their way to a certain parking garage to get their next clue. Zev & Justin took off first since they arrived in first place in the last episode. Once they got their clue, the teams had to drive to a different town,and eventually make their way to the Yabusame Dojo were they faced a Road Block. In the Road Block, the teams had to dress as a Samurai ,learn to perform a special ritual. Showtime announced a second season for the terrorism drama "Homeland."
The series, starring Claire Danes as a CIA agent who suspects a returning war hero (Damien Lewis) has been turned while a prisoner of terrorists, debuted as the network’s highest-rated freshman drama series ever, earning 4.4 million viewers across platforms in its first week. It has continued to increase overall viewership since its premiere, and Sunday's episode delivered its best ratings to date.
The second season will begin production in spring 2012.

Shareholders re-elected all three Murdochs on the board at last Friday's annual meeting, but News Corp.'s filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Monday reveals widespread discontent with the Murdochs' leadership, and particularly with James and Lachlan Murdoch, the sons of Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch.
While Rupert remained popular enough -- garnering 84 percent of the vote -- his sons were not so lucky. A whopping 35 percent of shareholders opposed James' re-election, while 34 percent opposed Lachlan's return.
