We like to think of the CFDAs as the fashion industry's Oscars, and yesterday, the council announced its 2012 nominees. Joining Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for the big womenswear designer award are Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row. Last year, the sisters swooped up the Swarovski Award for womenswear. The big announcement and stylish soiré¥ happen in June, but for now, check out the full list of nominees:
Womenswear Designer of the Year: Marc Jacobs, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row, and Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez Menswear Designer of the Year: Patrik Ervell, Billy Reid, and Simon Spurr Accessory Designer of the Year: Alexander Wang, Reed Krakoff, and McCollough and Hernandez for Proenza Schouler. Swarovski Award for Womenswear: Joseph Altuzarra, Chris Peters and Shane Gabier for Creatures of the Wind, and Suno's Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty Swarovski Award for Menswear: Antonio Azzuolo, Todd Snyder, and Phillip Lim Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Tabitha Simmons, Pamela Love, and Irene Neuwirth The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Tommy Hilfiger. The Fashion Icon Award will be presented to Johnny Depp. The International Award will go to Rei Kawakubo.
